 CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Children ages 3-11 who are present at 9:30am Mass on Sundays are invited to take
part in the Children's Liturgy of the Word.

 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
St. Philip Neri Religious Education Program for adults and for children is an essential part
of complete faith formation.  It has been shown to provide the basis for a healthy
spiritual life.  Fortify your children's faith as well as your own by registering in our

 RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY

     HYMN BOOK MEMORIAL
SPN Parish has purchased new hymn books.  The books may be memorialized to remember
a loved one living or deceased, for a donation of $25.00.  Call the parish office at
410-859-0571.
 
         NEW ALTAR SERVERS
Girls and Boys who are going into 4th to 8th grade, and have received the sacraments
of Baptism, Reconciliation and First Eucharist are eligible to server.  For more information

PARISH PICNIC
Will be held on Sunday, September 21st from Noon to 4:30pm.  A day of fun, games,
crafts, and food.  Registration forms for picnic activities will be distributed the weekend
of August 2nd and 3rd, by our ushers.  Be sure to get one so you can join in on the fun.
 
 VOLUNTEER DRIVERS NEEDED
Volunteers are needed to transport ladies or men who live at Arundel Woods
Senior Housing facility on Ordinance Road in Glen Burnie, to and from Sunday
Mass.  If you can help, please call Steve at 410-789-3230.

THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS

SOCIAL OUTREACH
Would You Please Help Us
The realities of the economy provide the most hardship to those who have most difficulty-
the poor and homeless.  During the month of May, "Our Daily Bread" served over 22,000
meals.  Please consider joining in the effort to help feed the homeless by preparing a
casserole each month.  The pans and recipes are provided in the church lobbies.  Casseroles
can be made at home and frozen until the 3rd Sunday of the month and then you just bring
them to church.  Collections are before the weekend Masses.  Any questions, please contact

PASTORAL COUNCIL NEWS
The next Pastoral Council meeting will be held on September 22nd.  This Council meeting will be
open from 8:30 to 9pm to those parishioners who wish to address the council.  If you have an idea or
concern regarding parish life, please put your thoughts in writing, and address them to the
council.  Please submit your reguest to the parish office before September 8th at 9am.  The council
looks forward to hearing from our parishioners.
 
YOUTH GROUP
The St. Philip Neri Youth Group is selling 2009 Entertainment Books for
$25.00 each.  All proceeds will go towards sending the high school youth to
the Baltimore Youth Catholic Conference.  Boos are on sale now in the Parish Office.
 
SODALITY
The Blessed Mother Sodality starts a new season of service to the parish on Tuesday,
September 2nd.  We begin with Mass in the church at 7pm, followed by our meeting
and socail in the rectory living room.  All ladies of the parish, 18 years and older, are welcomed
to attend.  On Saturday, September 6th the Sodality will attend Mass together with the
parish at 9am.
 
BOY SCOUT TROOP 447

Invites you to clean out your closets and make some cash at the Boy Scout Flea
Market on Saturday, September 20th from 8am to 1pm.  Spaces available at $12.00 each.
To be held on the church parking lot.  Event will be held rain or shine.  Serving breakfast

STAND TRAINING
Anyone who is a volunteer of SPN Church or School that has not seen the STAND
video, it will be shown on Wednesday, September 17th at 7pm in the gym.  All
volunteers must view this video.
 
YOUTH GROUP NEWS
On Sunday, September 14th at 6pm there will be a short informational meeting in the
rectory for parents or guardians of middle or high school students who are interested
in joining the SPN Youth Group.  If you can not attend the meeting, but would like more
information about the youth group call Hilary Sterret, Youth Minister at 443-867-7947.
 
A NEW MINISTRY
"The Lord's Handiworkers"-a new ministry here at SPN, welcomes new members who are
handy with a glue gun, enjoy crafts, and have a calling to workship and praise Christ.  The
purpose of the ministry is to create seasonal decorations for the church, beginning with fall.
Two meetings have been scheduled for Friday, September 26th at 11:30am or 6:30pm.  Bring your
ideas for Advent and Christmas plus your talent, your glue gun and wire cutters.  If you

SPN SENIORS
The SPN Seniors will meet after the 9am Mass on September 12th in the rectory.
All seniors are welcome to join us to discuss upcoming events and a special "cluster event".
 
MUSIC MINISTRY
Senior choir practice will begin on Wednesday, October 1st from 7-7:45pm.
Children's choir will begin on Thursday, October 2nd from 6-6:30pm.  For
